Information About Permanent Hair Removal By Marsha Morgan, Licensed Esthetician As a practicing electrologist, I am often asked questions about electrolysis, laser treatments and permanent hair removal. The following are answers to the most common questions.
Q: Are needles used?
A: No. The electrologist uses an extremely fine wire called a probe, which slides easily into the hair follicle.
Q: Is electrolysis painful?
A: If done properly, you will definitely feel it. Because the presence of heat is necessary for the process to be effective, there is some degree of discomfort. The tolerance of each individual varies.
Q: Is electrolysis really permanent?
A: Yes. When the base of the hair has been properly treated, a new hair cannot grow from that follicle.
Q: What areas can be worked on?
A: Any part of the body except inside the nose and inside the ears. Hairlines and eyebrows can be shaped, and hair can be removed from the upper lip, and along the chin and jaw line. For women only, I permanently remove hair from chest, abdomen and bikini line, and complete leg right down to the toes.
Q: What about healing?
A: Healing after electrolysis treatment is generally rapid. Immediately following treatment, ice is applied to soothe and calm the skin, and a quiet place is provided for your comfort.
Q: How do I care for my skin at home?
A: Your home treatment is very important. I will recommend a treatment that best suits your skin type.
Q:That sounds great! I definitely want to have electrolysis treatment for permanent hair removal. Why should I choose you as my electrologist? A: I am a licensed cosmetologist and esthetician, certified with electrolysis training, and have been actively practicing electrolysis for more than 25 years.
